William F "Bill" Taylor, Sr.

Sept. 17, 1931 - Jan. 13, 2016

William Franklin “Bill” Taylor, Sr.  passed away January 13, 2016 at the age of 84.

In addition to serving the Green County Fair since 1955, Bill, as known to most, was elected as Mayor of Greensburg in 1977,  serving 3 terms. Bill also served as a City Council member for 11 terms. He was  a veteran of the Korean War, was American Legion State Commander 1967-68.

Bill served as presentation chairman at the World’s Championship Horse Show held during the Kentucky State Fair for 32 years.  He was a member of the Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows since 1973.  Where he served as secretary and treasurer. He earned the distinction of Secretary Emeritus of the Kentucky Association of Fair and Horse Shows. He dedicated his adult life to working with the Green County Fair and Horse Show since becoming a member in 1955 and serving as treasurer for many years, until he passed away.  He took great pride in presenting the winners of the horse show their winnings.  He was always a big supporter of events that would bring big smiles to the faces of the children in the communities.

Bill served as a great mentor, not only for the members of the fair board, but also many people in the community and across the state.

Bill has touched many lives in Green County and in the surrounding  communities all across the state of Kentucky.  Bill will forever be a part of the Green County Fair and Horse Show, and we will strive to make him proud.
